How to Obtain NERD Clearance Slip for NYSC: A Guide for Prospective Corps Members

NYSC now requires NERD Clearance Slip for mobilization of graduates, a policy which was implemented by the federal Government of Nigeria.

In this post you will be enlightened and guided on the processes involved in getting the compulsory NERD Clearance Slip, and also how to locate an accredited NERD enrollment centre close to you.

What Is NERD Clearance Slip: The NERD clearance slip is a slip in form of a one page document which will be issued to graduates after they have successfully submitted their final year output (Thesis/Project work) to the NERD website and it is approved.

How Do I Obtain The NERD Clearance Slip For NYSC Mobilization: As stated earlier, the NERD clearance slip will be obtained after a PCM submits or deposits their academic outputs, such as thesis or project reports into the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank popularly known as NERD.

Below is a detailed guide on how to obtain the slip;

1. Get your ID card, passport photo, and a document that attests to your status in your institution (a document that confirms your studentship) before you begin.

2. Visit: https://ned.gov.ng/onboarding. Type in your email address (ensure it is an email you can access). Click send verification link. A verification link will be sent to your email. F9r FOREIGN TRAINED graduates visit; https://esmat.ned.gov.ng/ai/esmat/foreign/enrol_foreign_students.php

3. Go to your E-mail Inbox (check inbox, spam or junk mail) and click Verify Mail. If the button doesn't work, copy and paste the link into your browser directly.

4. You will be redirected to the form. Under Details. Start by selecting Role (Pick Student).

5. Select your institution by typing part of its name (e.g typing “Ibadan” will bring up all institutions in Ibadan, and you can simply select from the list. Do not retype a new institution name).

6. In the Academic Section, fill in your Programme & Academic Details, and Personal informaton. Click More (not Save) and complete the form.

7. Under KYC: Upload Passport Photo, Allowed. jpg, ipeg, png. With a maximum of 300 KB (white background preferably.

8. Upload Means of ID (preferably Government approved ID) Allowed: Jpg. Jpeg, png. Maximum of 350 KB.

9. Upload Student Status Attestation Letter (from the Registrar). Attestation required is any valid (genuine) document from your institution that confirms your studentship. Statement of Result, Original Degree Certificate, e.t.c are acceptable once they are genuinely from your institution.

10. Click Submit Enrolment. Following self-onboarding, your information will be cross-checked before you receive a link where you can upload your project report, dissertation, thesis, etc.

Before you begin the process, kindly note that you are advised to visit an accredited enrollment centre for it, and remember there was an article released which stated that enrollment will officially kick-off from 6th January 2026. Any enrollment done before the designated date will not be acknowledged.

    I register with NYSc batch c 2025 be NERDS issues comes up. Do I still need to do NERDS? Do I still have to register nerds to be mobilized?
