PCMs Fear For Orientation Camp Postponement As FG Announces Phase 4 Of COVID-19 Lockdown

Following the recent announcement and reintroduction of COVID-19 restrictions in all the 36 states across Nigeria, Prospective Corp Members belonging to the 2021 Batch A Stream 2 have started to panic as this new development might affect the date which has been scheduled for their orientation camp exercise.

The PCMs who have recently started making preparations for their forth coming Orientation exercise scheduled to tentatively kick off on 18th May 2021 received the shocking news together with well meaning Nigerians of a Phase (iv) COVID-19 Lockdown which will supposedly take effect from midnight Tuesday 11th May 2021 and this has brought about various opinions as regards to whether the NYSC Management will postpone their upcoming orientation exercise or not.

WILL NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP DATE FOR 2021 BATCH A STREAM 2 BE POSTPONED?

Well at the moment, neither the National Youth Service Corps management board or DG (Director General) have addressed this recent matter, and as such we cannot say for certain if there will be a postponement for stream 2 orientation camp date, but looking critically at the announcement and guidelines by Dr Mukhtar Mohammed who is a member of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 while briefing reporters in Abuja, we believe that the NYSC body can manage the National Youth Service Corps Programme effectively as they have done in the past during other phases of lockdown.

In other words, there might be limited number of PCMs allocated to various camps at different intervals of time. This might bring about the stream 2 being sub-divided into parts just like 2020 Batch B Stream 1 was divided into stream 1A and 1B.

Kindly note that this analysis is just based on individual presumption from past experience and it might not turn out to be so. But if camp must hold on the 18th of May as has been announced tentatively (subject to change) and the lockdown is still imposed, then posting of Prospective Corp Members as was explained before will be limited.

PCMs are advised to relax, sit tight and follow up on updates we will be posting in due time during the course of this new development.

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE RESTRICTIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN IMPOSED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON THE PHASE (IV) COVID-19 LOCKDOWN.

  • Mass gathering in public places have been reduced to 50 people at any interval of time
  • Any individual who doesn't put on face mask will be denied access to institutions belonging to the government. Also travels and scheduled meetings have been limited to the virtual platform.

  • All night clubs and bars across the federation should remain closed as long as the imposed curfew is in force until further notice.

  • Only important travels internationally will be encouraged and adherence to every existing protocol is to be made paramount to travelers who fall in this category.

  • All individuals who recently returned to Nigeria from abroad and violated the compulsory requirements for quarantine by fleeing facilities they were put in will not go unpunished.

Feel free to drop your opinions or questions in the comment section.

NYSC 2025/2026 Mobilization Update

2025 Batch C Stream 2 will be automatically exempted from the NERD upload requirement , a new development which was announced few months ago. Recall that the Federal Government’s NERD policy was supposed to start on the 6th of October 2025, but the enforcement was put on hold. Later in October 2025, both NERD and NYSC issued circulars confirming that 2025 Batch C (which automatically includes Stream 2) will not be required to obtain the NERD Clearance Slip because their mobilization began before the enforcement date. It was clearly stated in the circular later released that full compliance will only be mandatory for PCMs who are newly mobilized from January/February 2026 onward. See one of the official circulars below: Hence, you don’t need to upload your project to NERD if you will be going with 2025 Batch C Stream 2, although you can still register voluntarily if you want to get ahead of the 2026 requirements. In view of the above, if there is any changes, adjustment or update wit...

This time it’s not about drills but responsibility and the next line of action for your own future.
