List of Schools (Institutions) That Have Released or Uploaded Their NYSC Senate List For 2024 Batch C

Major Reasons Why You Might End Up Missing Next NYSC Batch/Stream

With the mobilization process still ongoing across the federation and institutions compiling the names of their eligible National Youth Service Corps candidates, it is important for Prospective Corp Members to be aware or take note of some of the things which can make them miss the upcoming orientation exercise for the next batch of NYSC.

Below are some of the major reasons that can make an aspiring corp member to miss service:

1. YOUR SCHOOL

First and foremost this is not even a thing to ponder over or debate about so without mincing words i will go straight to the point. There is no possible way an individual will be able to mobilize his or herself for the NYSC programme next batch without being cleared by their respective institution.

In other words, one must make sure not to have any issues with their institution which can include; Carry-overs, Missing scripts after written exams, owing particular dues or fees, e.t.c. In a situation whereby a person has any of these problems listed above or the likes of it, they are required to clear themselves so as to be eligible for internal mobilization.

One other thing is for individuals to keep in touch with their Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) in school so as to get early information whether or whether not they will be requested to fill the mobilization form. Some institutions share this particular form to final year students who are aspiring to go for service while some other institutions don't share the form as they have their own way of mobilizing their candidates.

2. JAMB REGULARIZATION

We have talked about JAMB regularization on one of our previous posts and also highlighted its processes as well as candidates required to carry out regularization. So for detailed information about JAMB regularization and other relevant information a PCM deserve to know about it kindly click here

3. MATRICULATION LIST

By now you should have been properly informed and thus aware that if your name is not found on the JAMB matriculation list there is no way you will be mobilized for NYSC. Your name being on the JAMB matriculation list shows that you have cleared yourself from JAMB and have fulfilled all its requirements. For all detailed information about the JAMB matriculation list click here

4. OVER AGE (ABOVE 30 YEARS)

This is one major criteria that counts a prospective corp member not eligible to go for NYSC. Am certain by now most of you are aware that once you are above 30 years before you graduate from your institution you will not be able to go for the NYSC programme, this means that for those who have past the age of 30, they will not be able to go for service next batch, rather they will be issued what is known as an Exemption letter and Exemption Certificate.

This Exemption letter or certificate shows that one has fulfilled his or her part in rendering service to the nation but they did not undergo the NYSC programme due to being over aged for the service.

So for those who are already above 30 while graduating note that it has been certified that you are not going to spend your next twelve (12) months serving your Father land.

5. ISSUE WITH STATEMENT OF RESULT

Graduates who do not collect their original statement of result or certificate will not be able to carry out documentation in the NYSC orientation camp. Out of many credentials a PCM is required to carry, this particular document is of utmost importance.

It shows that you were a bona-fide member of your institution and graduated successfully. The statement of result suffices for the original certificate and can be used in place of an original degree certificate for the NYSC programme except for foreign trained graduates. Only locally trained graduates are allowed to tender a Statement Of Result (SOR) in place of an original degree certificate. Also you have to be aware that the name on your Green-card or Call-up letter should tally vehemently with the name on your Original Degree Certificate or Statement of Result both in spelling and arrangement. If they don't tally, a PCM with such contrast will not be allowed to register in camp.

For polytechnic graduates they are required to present their original ND and HND certificate or statement of result. Note that there is a little power an original degree certificate has over a statement of result which is; in a situation whereby a PCM has lost, broken or misplaced his or her school IDcard, they can use an original degree certificate to back it up but a statement of result cannot be used as back up. To see more information about lost IDcard click here

6. YOUR VILLAGE PEOPLE.

As funny as this may sound its actually part of the reason an individual might miss their NYSC service year. Am not trying to scare you (LOL) but we are all aware of unforseen powers so the least you can do is be prayerful while preparing for your NYSC programme during and after graduation.

TEN (10) IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO AFTER ORIENTATION CAMP

As the orientation camp is almost over, you’re now free from the early morning hassle, meditation, and strenuous drills. You are on to another phase of the service. This time it’s not about drills but responsibility and the next line of action for your own future. Here are some things you should do after the orientation camp. - Settle down : In your posting letter, it is indicated where your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) is and you must have been conveyed by representatives of the different Local Government Areas where you’re posted to the area. The next thing is to settle down.  There are usually four temporary and permanent accommodations provided by religious bodies such as NCCF, NACC, MCAN and the likes. Some local governments also have Corpers Lodge which you can make use of before you proceed to your PPA. For some, these places eventually become their permanent residence for the service year. - Locate your PPA and NYSC Area or Local Office : Don’t carry your bags and travel h
