A very big congratulation to all aspiring and already serving corps members as FG finally increases their allowance from 33k to 77k. The Federal Government has approved the increment of Corps Members' monthly allowance to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (N77,000) with effect from July 2024. This is in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024. This was contained in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated 25th September 2024 and signed by the Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta. N70,000 monthly allowance might be the new pay for upcoming corpers in the National youth service corps programme as President Tinubu just gave his approval for a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers. Although it hasn't been announced to corpers but it's a welcome development as we all know that corpers are always paid the minimum wage. In this article am going to give you a detailed outline of why we think the NYSC camp might not be opening anytime soon as initially speculated to open on 26th June 2024. At the time of writing this post the call up lettet has not been released. Note that this is a personal and an individual opinion and it is not in anyway from an official announcement or Official Memo from the NYSC management.
