BELOW IS A RECENT UPDATE FROM THE JUST CONCLUDED WEBINAR IN STREAM 1 AS REGARDS TO COVID-19 VACCINATION AND PCMs (Compulsory or Not?)
If you have been vaccinated, you will still be tested in camp.
Everyone will be screened on arrival to the camp.
There will be provision of vaccine for those yet to take their first dose and those who have taken their first dose and are yet to take the second dose can still take it in camp.
If you have been vaccinated, you can come with you card to camp as proof, in case of loss of card kindly scan the QRcode and have it saved on your phone or the message sent by NPHCDA.
With the above update you can tell that the vaccination is compulsory but its left to you whether you will like to be vaccinated outside camp or inside NYSC camp.
During the NYSC mobilization process for a particular NYSC Batch or Stream there seems to always be one (1) or two (2) information which PCMs are never certain about. This is because such information has been circulated around and seems to be true but the NYSC management keeps mute about it, possibly because they are still deliberating on it or have no idea about such information being in circulation.
This is the case of 2022 Batch A PCMs as their NYSC mobilization process is ongoinge even while they await the uploading of their senate list with schools releasing their internal Senate list each day that go by. CLICK HERE to see the list of schools whose senate list is out so far for 2022 Batch A stream 1.
As regards to whether or not PCMs will not be allowed in the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp if they are not vaccinated against the Corona Virus, there has now been an official statement by the DG NYSC during the just concluded Webinar. The official statement can be seen as written in italics above in paragraph 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Here is what you all have to know previously about the COVID-19 Vaccination, during the time of 2021 Batch C, there was a memo released which stated that "Henceforth, Prospective Corp Members will not be allowed into the orientation camp if they are not vaccinated". This memo and information was solely carried by newspapers online and never seen on any of the NYSC social media pages.
Considering the Memo being released and never debunked (countered) by the NYSC management, it might mean that, either PCMs will be vaccinated at the gate before entering into camp or the vaccination card will be requested for at the gate while entering the camp. We are still not sure.
Prior to the opening of the orientation camp for the 2022 Batch A orientation exercise, we are all still waiting for an official statement by the DG of NYSC concerning this presumed new development of COVID-19 vaccination. Or rather a Circular will soon be passed by the management of NYSC concerning this issue of which at the time of writing this post (17th January 2022) no official statement has been released.
Based on experience i will advice that you take time and take the first dose as there is no harm done and there is even space of weeks before you can be allowed to take the second dose.
More so, generally for everyone you never know which other opportunity apart from NYSC might open up that you will need the vaccination card to access such opportunity.
Lastly note that this certificate (Vaccination Card/Certificate) is not easy to forge as this is computerized and everyone has his/her unique vaccination number.
Kindly keep in touch with NYSCBROADCAST as we will update you if there is any official statement released by NYSC. Our whatsapp group link can be found above and below this article.
